Update 5: chatted with other customers. They've been here for hours. Seriously, fuck you sprint. This can't be acceptable to you, can it?
UPDATE: I'm back at the store. Let's live blog this shit.
No one taking names to get in line for help. That's nice. 3 people working with customers and a line of 7
Update 2: as I typed that an employee approached. He asked if anyone needed to see a technician then walked away. Ok....
Update 3: just saw a customer leave. Employee pushing the satisfaction survey. Yeah, waste everyone's time to promote yourself. Note: this problem isn't unique to sprint, and it's one of the worst customer service trends out there. I absolutely hate it
Update 4: got checked in because an employee started calling names and I got his attention.
Original post begins here:
Seriously Sprint, you are not off to a good start.
My iPhone arrived. Call to activate, nope, can't do it from my current phone (transferring number). That's understandable, but it's 2014: I don't have another phone.
Go to the Sprint store. There's ONE PERSON. ONE PERSON WORKING. Wait for half an hour, I need to go do something. In that time another person came back from lunch, okay. For the whole half hour I was there the first employee never moved on from one person, it was ridiculous. Then another guy shows up and just stands staring at his computer with no customer.
I go up to the concierge and ask if there's another way to activate. 'Sure, you can do it online'.
I go take care of business, grab a bite to eat, logon to Sprint: NOPE. Can't fucking do it online. There seems to be no way to do it online. Unless I'm blind, there's nothing. Activate a new phone seems to assume you already have a sprint phone, which I don't. FUCK.
Now I have to drive back to the damn store.
Fuck fuck fuckity fuck. This is way more difficult than it needs to be.

Yeah. I did the same thing as you (except I got a normal 6). It seems they under-staff their stores.

It's just insane. It probably doesn't take long at all to activate, does it?
I wouldn't mind as much if they had some GOD DAMN WIFI. SERIOUSLY IT'S 2014 AND YOU'RE A FUCKING TECH COMPANY. HOW DOES YOUR STORE NOT HAVE WIFI?!
I'd use my phone BUT I NEED IT TO BE ACTIVATED YOU PRICKS.
I'm angry. And now that my phone has synced it's back to the mother fucking sprint store!

I couldn't activate my phone online when I had Verizon though either though. But it took them like 1:30 to activate two phones for me. At least they let me use my old one though while I was waiting.

If you have a computer/headset just call them from the little phone thing in gmail. I had to do that last time when my phone busted and I was in a place that didn't have a store in like 500 miles..
